Vocal ER lockups, the ambulance palette, and the mascot question

PRD · Open question

Working identity only — the name decision is open. This page exists so the 'Vocaler problem' and the mascot question are visible things we can react to, not abstractions.

The problem, demonstrated

The last one is why spacing/casing is a brand rule: run together it reads as a word (“Vocaler”), which the founding meeting explicitly flagged. Also noted there: no.erTLD exists, so the domain will be something like vocaler.app / vocal-er.com — part of the name decision.

Palette — the ambulance

Siren red

#DC2626

Medic blue

#1D4ED8

Chart paper

#FAFAFA

Ink

#171717

Red = urgency and action (CTAs, live states). Blue = care and trust (assignments, clinical-adjacent surfaces). White space does the clinical-clean work. Red never appears on medical-warning copy alone — warnings pair icon + text so color isn't the only signal.

The mascot question

👩‍⚕️

The nurse got Nina recognized on a flight— the attention-getter works. But the current imagery leans on Blink-182's album-art nurse, which is copyrighted and was always meant to be temporary (her words: it was “just to get attention”).

  • Commission an original nurse/medic character — inspired-by energy, zero borrowed art
  • Decide the vibe: kitsch rescue-poster vs. clean clinical-friendly (they pull different users)
  • The triage call's cartoon visual (PRD F6) and the mascot should be the same character
